Monolayer Models of NASH

Primary human hepatocytes (HEP) are an excellent, short-term human in vitro liver model as they reflect high functionality relative to the in vivo liver.

Monolayer culture of HEP is here used to create a well-characterized and easy to analyze NASH model.  FFA, Fructose and L-Alanine exposed (t = 24h) primary human hepatocytes sh ow dose-response increase of lipid accumulation, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis and insulin resistance, all key cellular events in the induction and the progression of NASH.

3D Models of NASH

3D HEP models using hydrogels more closely mimic the in vivo situation and allow for longer cell culture periods.

These models provide higher pathophysiological relevance. FFA, Fructose and L-Alanine exposed (up to 21 days) primary human hepatocytes show dose-response increase of lipid accumulation, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis and insulin resistance, all key cellular events in the induction and the progression of NASH.
